We travelled down to Kuala Lumpur from Penang, across to the Perhentian islands via Taman Negara National Park, and then down to Melaka and Tasek Chini National Park. The Crumbling Buildings of
Georgetown I liked Georgetown. Excellent, cheap food, a few nice temples, it was only let down by a nightlife that can best be described as "quiet" and alcohol prices as "scandalous". |

Dan Outside Chinese Merchant's
Mansion This house once belonged to an important Chinese tycoon named Cheong Fatt Tze, and was used as the location for the film Indochine with Catherine Deneuve. |

Lantern in Chinese Clan House This is Khoo Kongsi, a tradtional kongsis ("clan houses that operate partly as temples and partly as meeting halls for Chinese of the same clan or surname"). The sumptuous architecture was a feast for the eyes. |
