Hong Kong

So it's taken us a bit of time to update the site... sorry but, well, we were busy. You can read an email update Olly sent round here.
Here's a selection of pictures from our week in Hong Kong with Ellie. You can view them as a slideshow here. (Note: this link opens a new browser window. This may be a problem if you have a pop-up blocker installed.)
Our First Night In Hong Kong

Girl Power
Olly took these B&W snaps on our first night out in HK. Ellie's good friend Ray is on the left. Apologies, but I can't remember the names of the two on the right...

Our First night out in Hong Kong
We were taken to a Salsa class on our first night in HK and needless to say we required a bit of Dutch courage to watch let alone perform.

The Calm Before The Storm
This was earlier on in the evening before things kicked off and the Latin beat overwhelmed the senses. Although it looks like Olly got the lion's share!!

Our Hosts
The instigators of our demise - Ray, Ellie and (what's her name?) although we weren't complaining.

The Storm Hits
After a couple of hours watching Olly displaying his Latin American moves with our Hosts (Dancing that is) we decided to check out some of HK's nightlife. Phil being the considerate person he is had decided to dispense with glasses as it meant more washing up for the bar staff.

Ellie and Chums
At this point in the night the bar dancing was about to kick off but not before a short sing-along by Ellie and Co.
Phil Struts his Stuff
We were all up on the bar shaking it by this stage.
Dan Struts his Stuff
And the beat goes on.
Phil & Olly Get Down
Once again Olly is looking surprised about something.

Olly & Ellie Get Intimate
Ellie and Olly feeling the effects of Cupid's arrow. The wedding's next year.

Victoria Peak
The Morning After The night Before
After the storm had subsided and order restored we dragged ourselves up to Victoria Peak - one of HK's major parks - to take in some of the breathtaking views over the city, well maybe not in this one.
HK Vista
There you go - a site for bloodshot eyes!! This is the view from Hong Kong Island looking towards the mainland and Kowloon where we were residing. For the architectural bods out there see if you can spot the HK Shanghai bank.
HK Vista #2
The skyscraper rules over here.

Group Photo
From left to right Olly, Phil, Ellie and Dan. For those of you who don't know, the lovely Ellie was the one who took us under her wing, put us up and acted as our guide around HK. A "Big Up" to Ellie for her courage.
Scenery
A surprising amount of untouched wilderness in one of the most densely populated areas of the planet.
Arnie in Wax
This picture is dedicated to Kiz.

Enjoying the sites at Victoria Peak.

The New Territories
Phil & Dan Exhausted
On our third day in HK we decided to take a trip to one of the neighboring islands to check out how different it was from the bustling metropolis that is HK city. We ended up taking a three hour trek through small villages and sometimes people's backyards before reaching our destination. These are some of the view we encountered.
New Territories View
The view we received when we reached the peak. You would never have believed this island was half an hour's boat ride from HK city.
Pagoda on Hill
Our eventual resting place at the top.
New Territories View #2
More views from the peak, it has a striking resemblance to some of the Scottish landscapes we've encountered in the past.
New Territories View #3
The boys in deep contemplation.

Our Last Days and Nights In Hong Kong
Strawberry Daiquiris
Don't ask... Alright, Ellie decided to take us to one of her trendy SATC hangouts somewhere in the back streets of HK that served up the best daiquiris in town and they insisted. However, we had to don this get up before sampling the goods.
Strawberry Daiquiris #2
As you can see Olly and Ellie were lapping it up.
Ellie with Boa
Ellie doing a good impersonation of someone not stealing a feather boa.
HK by Night #3
The city was like a light show in the evening, we even had fireworks every night for three days when we arrived, the reason for which has eluded me.
Ellie with Bodyguards
The three of us standing guard outside Ellie's apartment block.
HK Vista #3
The view that Ellie has from her terraced Garden. The one from the roof top terrace however takes the biscuit.
HK Vista #4
HK is a pretty spectacular place alright.
The Star Ferry
Public transport Hong Kong style.
Dan & Olly Pose for the Camera
Dan's Camera Disintegrates
The last picture taken on Dan's camera before he decided to drop kick it across a room.
